Solution
How does frost form?
Frost is formed by warm and cold air combining in a below 32-degree environment, causing ice crystals to form from the condensation produced.
What causes frost?
- A warp in the door gasket or door itself preventing a proper seal from being made when the door is closed.
- The ice chute flap not closing properly can also be a source.
- Extremely low temps being used, setting below the recommended 0 degrees Fahrenheit can cause internal products to over freeze causing frost.
- Improper air flow due to placement of products on the shelving. Blocking air flow pathways and putting the product in a direct line of cold air that will eventually cause frost to accumulate on the product.
How to stop frost build up
- Make sure the door is completely shut and nothing is blocking it.
- Check to make sure the door gasket has a good seal.
- Make sure the ice chute is completely closed, sometimes ice can get stuck and prevent it from closing properly.
- Check the vents for proper air flow, sometimes items may block the vents.
